In the last couple of months, I’ve wrote song after song after song, and now? I’m the proud winner of 2 “One To Watch” Awards from NSAI.
Here’s behind The Lies I Told Myself, December EARS 2025 Award-Winning song.
I started with a concept from a book, a psychological thriller by Rosie Walsh—The Love Of My Life. The song explores themes of self-identity, and truly lying to everyone around you. But… part of what I thought all-throughout the book was… she’s lying to herself. When you live your life in a lie, you’re not just lying to everyone else. You’re lying to yourself.
The songwriting process was incredibly frustrating, It made me admit things I didn’t want to say out loud, it bred thoughts that undiscovered even the smallest things about me. I poured my blood, sweat and tears into this song.
Producing this song was such a religious experience, putting together each part of the puzzle. The guitar melody feels like a Spanish guitar, contributing to the different “lies I tell myself”. And when it was done, everyone was so proud of the introspectivity the song provided.
